Cessalin’s chronicles – the longest hand written story ever??

This is a horribly bad picture, I know - I only own a (horribly bad!) webcam.
(This is not a part of the story, but real life)
One day, when I was at my friends place, I happened to look in her closet (it’s another story why, but I promise I wasn’t sneak peaking XD). What I saw was a HUGE pile of diary-looking books. I couldn’t hold back my curiosity, and although I didn’t know her very well yet, I asked her if they were her diarys.
She looked a little embarrased, and I expected that they really were diarys and that she was ashamed of keeping a diary… but surprisingly she said something like: “not really”. I just had to ask her again, what those books were, and eventually she told me, that they were a story. ONE story. She had began it as a child and kept on writing it now and then until her teenager days.
She said something like: ”You must think that I’m crazy. But I have written that only when I’m really bored, and I have never tried to make it good… “. But when I told her that I like to write stories too and have done that since my childhood, she became more confident and opened up about her writing hobby. Anyhow, she insisted that this gigantic story was just crap. I, for my part, insisted, that I want to read it and that I’ll promise to not take it too seriously but neither laugh at it.
Finally she gave up and said: “Ok, you can read it, but you can have it as well, I don’t like it and I don’t need it!”. Well, I was sure that she’ll change her mind when she gets older, so I said that I’ll only borrow it and she can have it back whenever she wants.
Now, after about three years, I still have it, and I’ve been reading it over and over again! Not always in chronological order, though, ’cause the story really is VERY scattered – more like a lot of little stories, but the same characters pop up all the time.
I admit that she’s right about the part that the story is far away from a finished text, that could be put into a book – sometimes she doesn’t even use whole sentences, sometimes she explains things with pictures, sometimes parts of the story are just cut off without a solution, and then she begins on the next part like if nothing had happened. Sometimes she writes in first person and sometimes in third person – and sometimes even from the point of view of some totally other person than the main character.
But there’s something about the story that has made me fall in love with it! Maybe it’s the mysterious feeling of it, it’s hugeness and the fact that my friend has a great imagination. Or maybe the fact that she has put so different things in one and same story – other chapters are quite normal life of a bunch of schoolgirls, and other chapters again are rather psychedelic (like for instance one, where Ninny dissapears, and is finally found inside THE HUGE HAIR DECORATION of a witch. Or the maybe even more fantastic chapter which includes a haunted ship and a two-headed dragon… ).
I’m definitely not trying to put this whole huge chronicle into a sims 3 story – it would be totally impossible! What I do is stealing my friends characters (BWAHAHAHA… ok, I have permission
), and using SOME of her ideas. Plus I want to honor my friends underrated (by herself) effort on this unique story.
Oh, and that (insanely bad) picture above is The Story I’ve been talking about here with it’s all 26 (if I counted right – by the way, the books weren’t even numbered and about some of the first books she wasn’t really sure which comes first, aaargh!) parts.
im writing a story right now that im thinking about having it published, but its so hard because i dont know how my story ends (i just write when i feel like it and i dont plan ahead) and sometimes im just i a rut. i once wrote three chapter in the story and then got rid of them after all that work just because i didnt like it.
Another prob is that im already working on a sequel in my head and the first book isnt done! Arrrg!
Wow. I love reading but writing, I just cant stick too it! Is she going to publish them? I would love to read them.
That’s so cool how your friends book inspired you! I wish I was that dedicated to things to keep them going for years, even if she only did it when she was bored.
