Tales of friendship

The idea (my original source of inspiration)

Cessalin’s chronicles – the longest hand written story ever??

This is a horribly bad picture, I know - I only own a (horribly bad!) webcam.

This is a horribly bad picture, I know - I only own a (horribly bad!) webcam.

(This is not a part of the story, but real life)

One day, when I was at my friends place, I happened to look in her closet (it’s another story why, but I promise I wasn’t sneak peaking XD). What I saw was a HUGE pile of diary-looking books. I couldn’t hold back my curiosity, and although I didn’t know her very well yet, I asked her if they were her diarys.

She looked a little embarrased, and I expected that they really were diarys and that she was ashamed of keeping a diary… but surprisingly she said something like: “not really”. I just had to ask her again, what those books were, and eventually she told me, that they were a story. ONE story. She had began it as a child and kept on writing it now and then until her teenager days.

She said something like: ”You must think that I’m crazy. But I have written that only when I’m really bored, and I have never tried to make it good… “. But when I told her that I like to write stories too and have done that since my childhood, she became more confident and opened up about her writing hobby. Anyhow, she insisted that this gigantic story was just crap. I, for my part, insisted, that I want to read it and that I’ll promise to not take it too seriously but neither laugh at it.

Finally she gave up and said: “Ok, you can read it, but you can have it as well, I don’t like it and I don’t need it!”. Well, I was sure that she’ll change her mind when she gets older, so I said that I’ll only borrow it and she can have it back whenever she wants.

Now, after about three years, I still have it, and I’ve been reading it over and over again! Not always in chronological order, though, ’cause the story really is VERY scattered – more like a lot of little stories, but the same characters pop up all the time.

I admit that she’s right about the part that the story is far away from a finished text, that could be put into a book – sometimes she doesn’t even use whole sentences, sometimes she explains things with pictures, sometimes parts of the story are just cut off without a solution, and then she begins on the next part like if nothing had happened. Sometimes she writes in first person and sometimes in third person – and sometimes even from the point of view of some totally other person than the main character.

But there’s something about the story that has made me fall in love with it! Maybe it’s the mysterious feeling of it, it’s hugeness and the fact that my friend has a great imagination. Or maybe the fact that she has put so different things in one and same story – other chapters are quite normal life of a bunch of schoolgirls, and other chapters again are rather psychedelic (like for instance one, where Ninny dissapears, and is finally found inside THE HUGE HAIR DECORATION of a witch. Or the maybe even more fantastic chapter which includes a haunted ship and a two-headed dragon… ).

I’m definitely not trying to put this whole huge chronicle into a sims 3 story – it would be totally impossible! What I do is stealing my friends characters (BWAHAHAHA… ok, I have permission :D ), and using SOME of her ideas. Plus I want to honor my friends underrated (by herself) effort on this unique story.

Oh, and that (insanely bad) picture above is The Story I’ve been talking about here with it’s all 26 (if I counted right – by the way, the books weren’t even numbered and about some of the first books she wasn’t really sure which comes first, aaargh!) parts.

Ah, looking for feedback from Ms. Kansine about an idea I had, excuse me. ><;. Just feedback about the idea though. ^^;;

im writing a story right now that im thinking about having it published, but its so hard because i dont know how my story ends (i just write when i feel like it and i dont plan ahead) and sometimes im just i a rut. i once wrote three chapter in the story and then got rid of them after all that work just because i didnt like it.
Another prob is that im already working on a sequel in my head and the first book isnt done! Arrrg!

I don’t think it’s a problem if you don’t know how it will end :) You’ll certainly get several ideas for the ending while writing! And I know the feeling, sometimes you just have to throw chapters away, if you really don’t like them, ’cause if you keep some chapters that you hate they kill the inspiration and ruin the story… I also always have a lot of thoughts about how the story will go on (like your sequel :D ) but they might change on the way when you write ^_^ Good luck with your writing! :)

Wow. That’s wonderful. I’m glad she gave you permission, and now I am very very interested in checking out the story. :)

Nice! ^_^ I’m not really satisfied with the beginning of the story myself, though… after the “time travel” it’s getting better, so hopefully you don’t get bored before that XD

Wow. I love reading but writing, I just cant stick too it! Is she going to publish them? I would love to read them.

Unfortunately they are in finnish, so IF she would publish them (which I highly doubt considering her attitude that she doesn’t even care about having these books back XD) they should be translated before u could read them :P (unless you know finnish, of course ;) But as I described, the story is scattered and very random, so I doubt that anyone would publish it even if it’s great in it’s own way :D An God, it’s long! I’ve tried to write it down on computer to have it in digital form – SEVERAL times – but I always get depressed of noticing, that it would really take FOREVER to get it on the computer… XP In my sims story I’m just picking out some chapters that I think are important / fit in my version of the story / are cool to make on the sims XD For now I’m writing about things that are happening in the fourth (I guess) book :)

Wow. Thats Awesome.

I love the idea of writing a story about several character like what she has done. To not write it as something to be published. It sounds like it is sort of a diary in a sense. She writes it according to her mood I bet…1st person, 3rd person, another person views, ordinary, psychedelic, whatever she feels. I bet a lot of her current emotions went into it too. Actually I like the idea very much. I do keep a journal *blush* but I have thought about changing the way I write it as a story instead of I did this today….blah blah blah. This makes me consider it again. Thanks, I think I’ve found a boredome solver, lol. (I have enough empty journals for it and even if it is never publishable it would be totally awesome to have on a family bookshelf when i’m old)

Yeah, I’m sure you’re right – it must be sort of an very unusual journal :D I have tried many times to write a diary, but I’ve always got too bored to continue it, maybe ’cause my diary has been excatly like “today I ate a sandwich… blah blah blah XD”. I guess I should find my own way to write it too :) (I’m one of those people who have a lot of time too! I simply hate to be busy, so I make sure that I won’t be XP)

That’s so cool how your friends book inspired you! I wish I was that dedicated to things to keep them going for years, even if she only did it when she was bored.

I wish I could be that dedicated too! O_O Usually when I write stories (now I don’t mean sims stories) the problem is that I never get them finished… and I can’t even imagine that I would be able to keep on writing the same story year after year :O

Wow! That’s amazing!! I can’t keep writing the same story either! I’m always thinking of more and more and more ideas!! I don’t get HALF of mine finished! I sit out at the table and write for HOURS!! ( hand writing )
I have millions of notebooks of the storys I wrote in the past. I like to go back into them and read them and they always make me laugh! They’re not sim stories. They’re stories that are about so many things. Actually I think out of my 500 billion stories I have written, I’ve only finished 3. Seriously. All hand written. And the most I have written isn’t near as much as she has written. The most pages I have written is probably about in the 60′s or 70′s, some number around there. I’m pretty sure it was 64. But I write pretty small XD

Hi first time readers!

If you're reading this story for the first time, I want to point out, that don't be fooled by the first impression - in the beginning the story seems to be about ordinary everyday life of a bunch of girls, but actually it's anything but ordinary when you read further ;) So don't give up on this if the beginning seems boring :D A link to the beginning: http://friendshiptale.wordpress.com/2009/08/01/introduction/ I have made some Cessalin characters downloadable.
